Glad I did not DNF this because it turned out to be quite enjoyable. The character growth was good, starting from a very unlikeable space nazi girl scout to someone with more conscience. Not sure I understand about the god machine and whatever tech here. Anyway, seems like this year's Hugo nominees for best novel batch is a bit weak.
