A battle-weary orc opens a coffee shop. That’s it, that’s the plot. Somehow this quiet book about practically nothing ended up one of my favorite reads this year. I wouldn’t blanket recommend this book, because it really is low plot/high vibes. But if you’re a fan of Becky Chambers or TJ Klune—or if you’re just, like, excessively into coffee shop operations and management—you’d probably enjoy this lovely slice-of-life fantasy.

Cozy fantasy, no massive world building, magic easily understood, no new language to learn, yes please!

I finally finished a book! It has been a struggle the last year and a half to read anything...but I am proud to say on the last day of 2022...that I was able to finish a book...that I started in June!!

I really, really enjoyed this book. It was such a light and wholesome read. And I loved the message about how anyone can rebuild their lives and find love and friendship. What a lovely theme!

Each character has a distinct personality that evolves through the story—even the ones we may no ...more

Geez. Who’d’ve thought opening a coffee shop could be so fraught with danger?
