What Members Thought

What a cozy and warmhearted book! It's like if all the tropes of Fantasy retired and started up a coffee shop together.

A delightful cozy fantasy novel about an adventuring orc who wants to hang up her sword and open a coffee shop. No one in this town knows what coffee even is? No problem! Sweet, adorable, and comforting.

Cozy fantasy, no massive world building, magic easily understood, no new language to learn, yes please!

Did not live up to the hype. Of which there has been a lot.
Nice cozy story, heavy on the coffee, heavy on the sweetener; loved the mouse baker.
If you can't tell be the cover, it's a romance.
I still think of latte as 'bean water with milk' now. ...more

I finally finished a book! It has been a struggle the last year and a half to read anything...but I am proud to say on the last day of 2022...that I was able to finish a book...that I started in June!!
I really, really enjoyed this book. It was such a light and wholesome read. And I loved the message about how anyone can rebuild their lives and find love and friendship. What a lovely theme!

Starting this book was like falling into a role-playing/fantasy game I used to play. The characters were on a small raid and even the cave and critter they were after felt familiar. From there, the main character focused on finding her best life. Without giving too much away, she assembles a group of friends, finds out her dreams can come true, and proves that she's not just all fangs and hard edges. Each character has a distinct personality that evolves through the story—even the ones we may no

Definitely a fun cozy read. It's probably more fun for people who like coffee (and coffee houses). I found the problems as the end a big stressor, which took away some of the cozy factor though, and I'm not sure the economics hold up. But a fun read and I'm looking forward to talking about it at our local bookstore with-a-food-court outside.

Again, Laurie, stop judging the book by the cover! I finally read this because it is nominated for like every SFF book prize an many, many people who enjoy fantasy have read it. It is so good! It kind of turns epic fantasy on its head, and introduces great, diverse (in terms of species) characters. Definitely recommended.

I'm glad I finally read this book. It was adorable and sweet and the cozy book I needed. Loved it!

Geez. Who’d’ve thought opening a coffee shop could be so fraught with danger?
