What an absolutely delightful, cozy, and creepy book!
The opening lines hook you from the get go: "The trees were full of cross and the woods we full of madmen. The pit was full of bones and her hands were full of wires."
There is much I could say, but I'll leave it at two things: 1. I identify strongly with the dust-wife's sense of humor and I'm not sure what that says about me, but I'll take it. And 2. How can I turn this book into a tattoo?? ...more

Story really took off once the gang was assembled. Almost dropped it at the start with the cloak and the assembling of the bone dog. But it quickly paid off. A sweet tale, taking on some fairy tale tropes and making them interesting. Which is good, because I don't think I've said this enough in my other reviews, but I hate fairy tale retellings. This isn't a retelling, as far as I'm aware, so that was good.
