I liked this a lot, especially Marra's character. I especially like that she's over thirty when all the action takes place. Also the godmothers are super cool. And so are the chickens.

A fairy tale, with a lot of the traditional tropes (three princeses, fairy godmothers, impossible tasks) with more modern sensibilities regarding politics, domestic violence, and women's options. Marra is the youngest princess; she is on a quest to save her sister from an abusive prince. Normal human gets sent on wild quest
A dark fairytale with a too-real villain. A self-doubt-filled, not-quite-nun, who gardens and embroiders and thinks herself a not-great princess, teams up with a grumpy lady with a demon chicken familiar, a not-so-evil godmother, and an exiled knight. A quest ensued. A very fun read.
