There were a lot of things I found frustrating in this book - the sci Fi plot doesn't seem necessary and sometimes it was difficult to connect to the characters. In the end though I couldn't give it less than four stars. I'm a classical musician, and all the technical music talk was on point. How do you describe a book which contains (1) LGBQT issues, (2) BIPOC, (3) aliens running a donut shop, (4) a demon wanting to claim a soul and (5) violins. It sounds crazy, but this book is SO GOOD!
The issues Katrina faces in her trans journey I feel was captured so well. I recommend this book to everyone!

A mixture of SF, Fantasy and almost YA but inventive and some good characterization. Weird.

It felt like the narrator was whispering and hushed, which made it difficult to hear occasionally. The setting is slightly silly and the themes are over emphasized, and yet ... my face keeps leaking. My heart is filled with joy and sadness.

A lyrical story about music, love, and redemption. Includes donuts, demons, and spaceships!
