Eh. This was more romance than anything else and I really do need to be in the right mood for books that are romance plots. The dialect of the prose wasn't my favorite either. I think the author was going for a fantastical Moll Flanders, with more progressive values in the culture created for the novel. I'm not 100% sure it worked. ...more

This started slow and a bit hard to grok, but slowly and inexorably got better and better… to the point that I ended the book really caring about the emotions and journey of the characters.
