I don't know what I was expecting when I sat down to read The Martian Chronicles, but it wasn't this. This is the first time I've read Ray Bradbury other than Fahrenheit 451 too many years ago to remember clearly. To throw around some really cliche adjectives, his writing is haunting and poetic. No really. I don't think I've read a book before that can be properly described that way before now.

I really can't believe it took me this long to read this book! I was hooked from the very first word. Such amazing stories. They range from the fantastical to the sinister. I would highly recommend this to everyone.

(3.5) Classic sci-fi work, enjoyable.
Interesting look at what the future of space exploration and technology looked like in the 50s. I didn't enjoy the Martian telepathy bullhonky in the earlier chapters.

I can't put my finger on why, but I really enjoyed this book. Maybe it's because it forced my brain to think differently than the usual book I read, or the topic itself was worth pondering over, but I found myself thinking about this book when I wasn't reading it and wanting to get back to reading it as soon as I could. It's a short read, but very worth it.

It's hard to rate this book as a whole when I felt so differently about all the stories. And that's just it...they were very different, despite all tying back to Mars and speicific people associated with it.

Loved "Martian Chronicles". Now my joint second favourite from Bradbury along with "Something Wicked ...".
