I had an itch for a good fantasy book and this gave it a satisfying scratch. I found the story very entertaining though I usually prefer more ‘grimdark-ish’ writing. It did take me a good while to really become engaged (perhaps over halfway through the book) but I was eventually hooked. While the story was very good, I felt the character development was not quite as full as it might have been. I think this may have been why it took me so long to get into the book.
