Wow I can't believe how much I hated this book. Can I list all of them? Let's see:
1) The tale randomly vacillates between an omniscient perspective and the perspective of Lyra (the protagonist). This isn't confusing but it is bloody annoying and it also deprives the reader of the protagonist's experience.
2) Lyra is simply a horrible character. She is a 13(?) year old, shallow, unimaginative, compulsive liar who instinctively and nearly instantaneously masters a magic item that both knows the tru ...more
