What Members Thought

The hype I've heard from other fans of the book was well borne and I definitely enjoyed reading this deeper telling of a Greek myth. The bare bones of previous myths were fleshed out more with backgrounds given to the Greek pantheon surrounding Circe and a mortal's voice was matched with such a life. I came to this book with high expectations and I was not let down. I look forward to reading more of her work.

For all the people who thought the Greek heroes and gods were all sort of jerks. Circe has an independent perspective on the tales; having been exiled by the gods to her island, she has few fs to give about most men and happily turns them into pigs. Parts of this were a bit of a slog, but well redeemed by the very touching final three chapters. Overcoming your past regrets.

Absolutely LOVED this book and so beautifully written! From the very first line I knew I was in for a wonderful reading experience, "When I was born, the name for what I was did not exist." Thus the reader falls head long into an engaging, heart-breaking, and ultimately triumphant life story of Circe. Though she's a goddess and witch, I suspect her story will be familiar to many readers. Also, really appreciate the beautiful jacket and interior design of the hardcover! Looking forward to passing
