I read this for the first time this month. As an adult reading many YA novels, I was struck by a number of things with this one:
a) in the absence of another, earlier book exhibiting the same plot, I have to assume that A Wrinkle in Time is the template for most YA fiction that has come after. As such, it is an Important Book, but it may strike other first-time readers as it did me: that I'd read it all before.
b) The tone of the book's language is very dry and emotionally remote, a bit like a new ...more

Widely considered a seminal children's book, "A Wrinkle in Time" cautions readers that appearances can be deceiving and that the world is a whole lot more pleasant--and interesting--when we accept one another's differences as beautiful. Another book club reread, although this time we abandoned it because nobody's library had it (wait lists were super long). I liked reading it again after the latest movie; it works as a book very differently.
