In her introduction to this book, Ursula Le Guin said science fiction is a thought-experiment. It is descriptive, not predictive. It's supposed to be peculiar, devious, it is basically an elaborately circumstantial lies.

An idea-driven science fiction novel with strong characterizations. I've decided that I really like this subgenre of anthropology science fiction.
