I really liked this book. I enjoy books that create a world and make it real. This one is a strange world of living bone towers that people live in and they fly on wings that they make. This novel deals with secrets and mysteries that have endured for generations. The power of one clique over the rest of society. It's almost like a religion. Updraft was the June read in a Goodreads group I'm a member of called The Sword and Laser. It was an interesting world of bone towers rising above the clouds, where the primary method of transportation is for individuals to fly using what sounds like a type of hanglider contraption but with more detailed movement. I am of mixed feelings regarding this book. I was entertained, although it was predictable. Love the world building, or lack of, since hardly any questions regarding the world get answered. The plot is one you may have read a thousand times, but not in this unique world. It left me both satisfied and unsatisfied. Maybe that is what the author wanted. But ultimately, in order to pull me along, you do have to give me something, and the book failed in that.
