Adventure dealing with the neat idea of four parallel Londons, each in a world with a different level of magic than the other worlds, and those who can move between them. While it never did anything particularly wrong (except maybe (view spoiler) , I just didn't love any aspect of it either.

I didn't really know what this was about when I started reading it, so I guess the fact that I was disappointed that it wasn't about magic in modern London is my fault. But I kept reading it, since it has been so raved about. Unfortunately, the short chapters made it too easy to just put the book down and do something else. By the time I was actually pulled into the story it was ending. I like the idea of the overlapping Londons and magic and all that jazz, but this just didn't quite pull it off

Plot was good, setting was strong, characters were well defined but didn't really catch my interest. That's probably a flaw in me rather than the book.

There's Red London, White London, Grey London and Black London, each with varying degrees of magic. Kel, a resident of Red London, is one of the few who can travel between the worlds. Through some misadventures he accidentally unleashes a powerful force and teams up with a thief named Lila to stop it. I really enjoyed this. Fantastic world building, interesting characters, wonderful magic system.
