I am so glad that I watched the series before trying to make it through this book. It really helped me keep track of all the names and houses and families by being able to put a face on them. The book is truly a marvel with my favorite chapters being that of Ned's, Tyrion's, Dany's, and Jon's. I also enjoyed Bran's. I am excited to see who else will get a POV in the books to come.

A stunning epic that refuses to hold back no matter how fondly held or central a character may seem.
Well, I was pleasantly surprised by this book considering I read it in high school and really didn't like it. I guess I'm more willing to overlook somewhat disturbing plot events now that I'm a bit older.
I was also surprised that I liked so many of the characters, even those who were occasionally working at cross purposes. I loved this book. Rich characters and plot turns. Completely riveting! Can't wait for book 2!

I watched the first season of the HBO series before reading the book so I think it made things easier to follow. There are a lot of plot lines, a lot of names and plenty of story lines left hanging at the end of this book. Well written and fast paced.
This was relisten and I do believe I enjoyed it more the second time.
