I got a copy of this book for Christmas and was wary of reading it due to the length. I've probably mentioned before that I am always wary of reading longer books because I have a compulsion to finish them whether I like them or not (sometimes the process can be painful).

It didn't take long to be drawn into A Game Of Thones, and I was surprised by how quickly it gripped me. I haven't seen the television series, so I consider that a bonus. But frankly A Game of Thones is now one of my favourite b

If anyone has the mistaken notion that fantasies are simplistic, only for children, or they have to the only in the quest format should read this series. This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. And the HBO mini-series is being very faithful to the book. Real rating: 3.5.
Well, it seems everyone already knew what the story is, so I just go on sharing how I feel about this book.

A little bit too black and white for me. The good ones are too good, the evil ones are too evil. Not saying that there are no grey characters, though. As usual, I tend to root for the underdog character.

I like that this book does not hesitate in hammering this idea into the reader's head: you can be honest, idealistic, and honorable; but without cunning, you will be dead.

Truly a masterpiece. Yet extremely long. So long that I have not been able to muster the courage the start the next one in the series. I am not sure my marriage can withstand it.
