I read this book a number of years ago and remembered really liking it. Listened to it this time around and still found the book to be solid, and very entertaining. A very plausible near future, with concepts like "sleaving" and "meths" and AI hotels and direct to head advertising that elevated the complexity of the whole world. Great characters. Brutal action. Mr Morgan does it again with a Sci-Fi Techno thriller. I enjoyed Thirteen and couldn't wait until his next foray into the genre. He stuck gold with this Altered Carbon. It's more of a pulpy 50's PI read, just set in the far future. His world building is such that I would like to see him visit it again. The characters and story line move nicely and there are several one off characters I would not mind learning more about (those that live, that is).
