The important main topic of the book is based on terrifying but true statistics regarding sexual violence against Native American women that need more attention and action. The book started slow but became much more readable at about 100 pages. Overall I didn’t feel that the parallel coming of age story of the narrator worked well with the assault storyline and maybe even took a little bit away from it. Some parts were very long winded. The first time I read this was in my junior year AP Honors class for a project. I don't remember what that project was now but I remember the impact this book had on my life. I even remember part of the discussion this book caused in my class and brought to light the horrors of everyday life for some. In the past four years, The Round House has popped into my mind randomly so many times. I hope to re-read this soon to see if I view it differently now.
