I saw a trailer and the story seemed interesting enough for me to pick up the book (I have not seen the film).

The Book Thief is a different book. But not everything that is written in an original way is necessarily a masterpiece. It is a good book. An interesting book, but also a tiring one. The death is telling a story of a young German girl during the second world war. There is not so much of the thievery. Also not so many suprises. The death is spoiling the story throughout the book. Started reading with high expectations due to the huge number of good reviews but have to say I'm unimpressed. The storytelling structure did not interest me at all. I usually have problems with obnoxious narrators who feel godly. In this case it was death. I hated the fact that the character of Liesel was so flat and it had no multitudes or depth.
