Morbid-ish.
Plenty interesting.
Scary.
How would a person wind up somewhere where bodies are studied in their putrefaction ways? Is that even mildly respectful?
I'm not built for that, that's for sure. But it's an interesting read, nonetheless.

It could be read with much more fun on public transport along with books wrapped in fake covers saying all kind of demented/apocryphal stuff such as:
- 'Proctological delights',
- 'Sacrificing virgins' (it's actually real: Sacrificing Virgins)

Man, I'm pretty disappointed. I had wanted to read this book for a really long time. It seemed so very interesting. Like it would be jam-packed with crazy facts and fun stories and scenarios. A really interesting book- It covers the study of human decomposition at the Body Farm in Tennessee, the use of cadavers in science experiments and education, ancient medicinal uses of cadavers (ugh!), and even cremation, burial, etc. If you find the aforementioned topics offensive or distasteful, you will probably not like this book. However, if you are a science-minded or medical person, you'd probably enjoy it. I like Mary Roach's style of writing; it is informative, yet witty and informal. ...more

Love learning while still getting a laugh every now and then. Of course, there were parts that would make me a bit uncomfortable (animal testing). It also left me with lots to think about when I finished, from dealing with cadavers, to implications to other areas. I will definitely be reading more of her work!
