Odette, Clarice and Barbara Jean, nicknamed the Supremes in the 60s, have remained friends since their teens, through ups and downs and are now in their late 50s. The story is told in chapters that skip from the present to the various periods in their lives that brought them together, found them their mates, and exposed their secrets. Only Odette's chapters are told in the first person.
