Not sure what to say about this one. It is a period piece. The writing style was slightly awkward for me, but not bad enough for me to stop reading. I found this to be one of those books that only kept me reading because I wanted to find out how something was resolved. Elisabeth is a young woman who has had a sketchy past. When she is discovered by Mr. Jones and offered a job at a hotel running the excursion project that was being started.

The cover is beautiful and that is what made me pick up this book. I would have enjoyed this more expect for two things: the overuse of the f-word (as in sex) in a VICTORIAN setting and John's forgiveness of Betsey's lack of references and loose morals in VICTORIAN England.
