This was an absolutely bittersweet yet beautiful story that had me in tears several times. June is a teenager in a 1980s New York suburb trying to handle the death of her favorite person in the world, her uncle Finn, after he died from AIDS. I felt the story did an excellent job depicting the hysteria and paranoia surrounding AIDS in the 80s as well as the teenage emotional pressures weighing on both June and her sister. Highly recommended.

So lovely. This book does a great job exploring grief, love, friendship, and family and how it's all complicated and all influenced by the culture that surrounds you. I related so much to June feeling almost betrayed that her uncle was close to someone besides her, it's such a classic teenage thing.
