I wouldn't bother reading The Diary of a Young Girl, unless you're reading recent editions that include passages removed by Otto Frank. While well-meaning, he was loath to really show the terse relationship between his teenage daughter and his dead wife. Few people realize that Anne was far from a sweet, naïve girl. Historically Interesting.
I gave it four stars because of its historical value and it's value globally as a cautionary tale. I must say it was not my cup of tea. Having said that, it is worthwhile for its reminder that we should never again let the events surrounding her seclusion, be allowed to happen. ...more

I read this one in elementary school. It is a powerful, though- and emotion-provoking book.
