It had a slow start, but as usual Kingsolver came through for me. I like her writing, I like that she seems kind to the failings of her characters. I didn't particularly care for the main sister she followed - Leah - Adah was more my type and Rachel had the more interesting voice. But then, Leah is the Africa Kingsolver wanted to follow - Congo and Zaire - and things that happened to or around her were interesting enough for me to tolerate her voice. Orleanna's brief interludes were my favorite.
