That is a pretty interesting series that is new to me. The whole idea of a final battle between good and evil is quite refreshing. And I really enjoyed the story.

I even didn't have any problem with the love at the first sight motive which is quite proper regarding the whole series idea. Plus, Vin and Marie-Therese are not your typical characters. And mysterious Jim is a great main character, I hope he will find his happy ending in one of the books.

I don't know if I liked this book or not. It was slow to start But when it started moving - it did move. There were fairly obvious "daggers" to BDB. I think I'll try books 2 and 3 before I condemn or congratulate the series progress.

Our hero Jim Heron is an unlikely, unwilling & quite average Jim who is sent back to earth after a freak accident with the charge of helping 7 individuals facing "world-changing" decisions that will determine if all people past and present be good or evil (no more choice for you)? More commonly known as the 7 deadly sins. But are the decisions for Jim's clients or for Jim? With there being 7 sins -- I mean 7 people who are at a crossroads and could use Jim's help it stands to reason that Jim won't always be successful in his efforts. In his first outing we meet Jim's "team" (they are interesting themselves - and are only willing to share enough knowledge to get Jim through the crisis of the moment). We also get back-story on one of BDB's less familiar faces who has quite an impact on the outcome of Jim and Jim's efforts. As Jim makes clumsy strides to push a couple toward HEA he does have too much guilty knowledge and not enough angel knowledge to be immediately effective. We also meet the cunning villain of the piece who is determined not only to succeed in ensuring the world leans to totally evil but has a vested interest in ensuring Jim's failure.
The first crossroad is in the form of Vince & Marie Terese as Vince only knows that he must have the best of everything and all that money can buy. Marie Terese has learned the hard way that all that glitters isn't gold. They are both running from their pasts and fate throws them together for their forseeable future(s).

This book is definitely worth a look and the premise sufficiently intriguing to give the series a chance. The villain is sly, cunning, shrewd and just plain BAD. On final thought I liked the book and am looking forward to the next entry of the series. Apr 18, 2011 06:46pm

WOW...what an awesome read! I'm a huge fan of the Brotherhood and have been anxiously waiting to find the time to start this series...it did not disappoint. I really like the concept of this story. Jim is a wonderfully flawed man...Eddie and Adrian are good additions to the team also. Vin and Marie Therese's story was well executed and I hope they make an appearance at some point down the road, but I get the impression that is not how it will work.
