Short review: I liked the idea of Vishous and Jane—and the reality—but don't feel like we got enough to believe in their incredible bond and love. When compared to the couples of previous books, their relationship seemed to have lest substance and be flimsier. Again, so many different POVs, though I'm thankful we had none from the lessers this time. I also dislike the lesser subplot and was pleased that it featured very little here.

This was the angsty male book of the series!! Vishous is so very emo! Yeah I get his life sucked but so did the other brothers. Then enter Phury with more angst!! Add to is John and his pre-change hormones and it is a trifecta!
This was a book that dragged do to all the mopey males. Sure they all have reasons but it doesn't make it any less annoying.
The other couples are all pretty set into route and making lovey dovey!

so far this has been my second least favorite, with butch's story being my least. there was a lot of surprises in this book, with (view spoiler) being the biggest one. i really dislike the way cormia is treated, but i love the way she still tries to serve (view spoiler) even though she is scared shitless. there are so many sparks flying between (view spoiler) that i was afraid that zerosum was

3.5 stars. Though S&M it was sexy and not too dark. Story switches between Vishous, flashbacks of his sad past and John.

I love how this book was able to really focus on Vishous. His past and his present. All while not leaving the other characters out.
J.R Ward has done something with this series that I realize I've come to love. That thing is building a world where every character is a part of every aspect of the story. She has done in her paranormal books what Robyn Carr has done with her small town romances (i.e Virgin River) and Nalini Singh has done in her paranormal series as well.
