Butch is a good character but his wooing for Marissa was just sad because she just annoyed me throughout the story. She just couldn't be honest with her feeling for Butch or just having the guts to even be tough enjoy to say what she wanted. The only time I was impressed with her anger was when she told he brother off and when she spoke up at the council meeting. All the other times she just annoyed me. I understand that she was kind of kept in a bubble but come on, you lived all those years and

All the characters in the Black Dagger Brotherhood are tortured in some way, but this book didn't focus on just one tortured soul. While this is the story of Butch and Marissa, it is also the story of Butch and Vishous, and Butch and family. It also has a side story that focuses on John.
Don't get me wrong, the Butch and Marissa story is a good one. They both feel out of place, unwanted and unworthy. I loved watching them find themselves through each other. I was a little worried that Marissa was ...more

In this fourth book, we are all about Butch and Marissa. While I still loved this book and super love this series, I'm torn on how I feel about it. Marissa is as aristocrat as aristocrat can get but it has left her ostracized and with no one to really talk to. Butch is basically a kept man. He lives with the Brotherhood with all the benefits but he can't really be part of the Brotherhood because he's human...or is he?

Vischous is getting odder and Butch is hooked on Marissa. Marissa is suffering panic attacks and single vampires are about to be secluded to protect the bloodlines. There was some odd stuff in here about Wrath and his line. Butch has a destiny in the War with the lessers. I do want to continue with the next book so I can figure strange Vischous out.

Wonderful plot, not so likeable main characters. And I really do get tired of skipping between characters; though it all works out in the end, I'm tired of reading about characters that just die, though I get why they are written in. Marissa irritated me throughout most of the book, though I like the person (or vampire, as the case is) she becomes. Overall, I guessed the secrets of this book in the first 100 pages, so it was just waiting for it to happen...
