This book was as dark as I was afraid the BDB series was going to be. If this one would have been the first, I'm not sure I would have continued. However, I am still in love with this series. So what didn't I like?

4 stars. I’ve been reading this book all.freaking.day. I could not put this book down for one second. It was crazy addictive and hooked me in from the very beginning. I’m so glad that I decided to continue on with this series.

I enjoyed this one so much more than the first book. It was action packed, exciting and there were genuine moments were I felt myself tearing up a little.

I will say about this series though that I don’t like the beginning of the romances so far. Both Wrath and Rhage’s book 4 stars. I’ve been reading this book all.freaking.day. Both Wrath and Rhage’s books had a bit of insta-love which annoys the hell out of me but I guess I can deal with it. It actually kind of makes sense with them being vampires and the whole ‘mates’ thing but it still grinds my gears a little bit.

That aside, I really love this group of characters so much already and I’m only two books in. Rhage was nothing how I thought he was going to be, especially with that name, but the guy is a big teddy bear. I adored him. He had no problem wearing his heart on his sleeves and yet he still managed to be a badass. I also found his Beast to be very interesting and felt it added so much more depth to him as a character.

Mary, I have to admit I didn’t really care for her in the beginning. She annoyed me at first but by the end I had come to love her character as well. She was stubborn as hell but really compassionate and loving. I love that she had such an immediate connection to John and wanted to help him. I felt horrible for all that she was going through but I admired how strong willed she was about it. Also, bonus points to her for sticking up to the guys and not letting them walk all over her.

Besides the insta-love the only other thing that kept this from getting the full 5 stars is that there were some loose ends. I understand that it all continues on in the preceding novels but that annoyed me. I would like a little bit of closure or follow up by the end, please and thank you. Also, there wasn’t enough Wrath and Beth for me. I especially wanted to see how Beth was getting along but I’m sure she shows up more as I continue on with the series.

Overall, great follow up and book 3 is about my favorite character, Zsadist, and I am stupid excited about it. ...more
