Rhage is easily the most fearsest warrior in the brotherhood. But he has problems controlling himself, even when he is around his brothers. When Rhage gets out of control his beast comes out to play. One day he is confronted with a female named Mary, whom his beast and him love so much. Rhage is so scared that he could hurt her when his beast gets all riled up whenever Mary is around. But try as he might Rhage can't stay away from her. So he gets Mary's friend Bella to help him set a date up wit Rhage is easily the most fearsest warrior in the brotherhood. But he has problems controlling himself, even when he is around his brothers. When Rhage gets out of control his beast comes out to play. One day he is confronted with a female named Mary, whom his beast and him love so much. Rhage is so scared that he could hurt her when his beast gets all riled up whenever Mary is around. But try as he might Rhage can't stay away from her. So he gets Mary's friend Bella to help him set a date up with Mary. They go out but Mary knows that she can't get attached to him because she doesn't want him at her bedside when she dies. Mary also has a secret of her own she has Lucemia, just like her mom. But Rhage makes her feel like she is cornered, she can't explaine to him how she can't get attached to him. But Rhade doesn't give up, he makes her face that she needs him as much as she needs him. Then Mary moves in with Rhage, but his brothers have to teach him a lesson in disobeying orders.. He was told not to bring humans into their house and to wipe her memory clean so she wouldn't remember him. Rhage couldn't do that because every time he thought about that it felt to him like someone was tearing his heart out. So the Brotherhood punished him for bringing Mary into their house and disobeying orders. Then Rhage decideds to through a party so Mary wouldn't feel isolated. There Mary sees a little of the other side of Rhage, which he hates so much. When he finally figures out that the beast wants Mary to, he takes off because he is afriad of the feelings that Mary brings out in him. Mary goes to her doctors appointments and gets blood taken to see if she can still do Chemotherapy. When she comes home she talks with Rhage, and Mary wants to sleep with him, only Mary explaines to him how it's ok and everything will be ok. That they could use chaines to chaine him down so he wont hurt her during sex. So they had sex and nothing happened. After that everything goes smoothly, and then Bella gets captured by the lessers. And everyone goes on hostile mode, and they try to get any idea what happend. When they head back towards Mary's house lessers attack them and the beast is set free. The beast is pissed that someone dared go after Mary so he tore the lessers up. Thats when his brothers saw that he changed, and they tried to get Mary out of there and that only made the beast madder. Until everything died down is when Rhage changed back. He eventually recovered with the help of his Mary. Mary's next appointment came, she had to stay in the hospital so Rhage went home alone. Rhage went to the Scribe Virgin for help and she gave it to him. The deal was that the Scribe Virgin would cure her, but that he had to stay away from her or she would die imediatly. Which naturally killed him inside, also each one of his brothers. The day after Mary came to Rhage, only to have him push her out. And thats when the Scribe Virgin told him that it was all right that she couldn't have babies and that she was just going to let her live because of that. After that they rejoyced in having each other, they made love after Mary explained the meaning of her name. And Rhage asked her to be his Shellan with the ritual that they used to make a female theirs forever. ...more

Oh, my, this book is STEAMY!!

I thought this book was so much better than the first in the series, Dark Lover.

It appears that Ward is featuring a different member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood with each of her novels. In Dark Lover, it was all about Wrath. This book is all about Rhage aka Hollywood, the most attractive of the Brotherhood who needs to take women and fight Lessers in order to keep his beast (literally) at bay.
