Such a lovely story!
I had kept off from reading this for quite some time... My forays into PNR have not been very favourable, as I need a good/believable story in order to enjoy the romance stuff - in the end, I am a fantasy/supernatural reader first and romance/erotica second!
But this story really positively surprised me! I thought the world and especially mythology was really well-done and I liked the main characters... and then I really liked the naughty bits too ;)

This book exemplifies the deficiencies in the star system here on GR. The problem was, I actually really enjoyed this book to the point that I honestly couldn't put it down. It was definitely corny (I mean, what was with the Vampire names? Really?) and there were aspects of it which I found silly (the 'guy bonding' between Butch and Vishious in particular) or even annoying (way too many acronyms, but perhaps that is because I didn't know half of them and so wasn't sure what they were talking abo

Interesting kick-off to the series. I've heard so much about the Black Dagger Brotherhood and am glad I'm finally getting to it. Seems like this is one where you really have to read all the books, and read them in order, because the subplot is a continuous arc across them all (or at least the one from the first one bleeds into the second, and my guess is that pattern continues).
I like the world that Ward created; not your cookie cutter vampire setting and background. I kind of missed that co ...more

Wow!! What a fantastic series!! Why did I wait so long to read it!! The perfect balance of adventure, romance and steamy action!
Wrath is a great character, super hot tortured vamp!! Oh and I can not wait for the rest of the Brotherhood to meet their matches!!
Beth is no simpering female she is a heroine worthy of a hunk like Wrath! I loved the whole dynamic.
The book is written from several different narratives. It gives a fuller picture of the whole story. It also sets up at least one future roma ...more

This is the 2nd book I've reread this week, and it's another example of how mood or life changes affect how you interpret what your reading (or maybe it's age).
I didn't particularly like anyone in this book. For some reason most characters, especially Beth, Butch, and Wrath, all came off as judgmental to me. Or maybe they were just jumping to too many conclusions.
I kept trying to tell myself that maybe I would have assumed Wrath was in the Mob or a drug dealer if I ...more

This is the one that started it all! I LOVE the Black Dagger Brotherhood and this book was the starting point! I plan on rereading the series this year and am so glad I get to revisit my favorite brothers!

This book was really good if you ignore the bad dialogue that creeps in at times. I think the Brotherhood was supposed to sound tough but it was just laughable - like wannabe thugs. How do you take someone seriously who says "I'm outtie"? And when Butch asked "What's doing with the tats?" I actually laughed out loud! The only thing that would have made it worse would've been if he said 'dealio'.
