I like this book, but only because I loved Vampire Academy and so far this is the same story. If I had never read Vampire Academy, I would've given this book 4 stars, but I can't condone plagiarism and that's why I gave this book 2 stars. I plan to read the next book and I hope this series can differentiate itself from a VA clone.

3.5 stars. I felt like it took forever for something to happen in this one. I'm developing feelings for the characters, the plot is being set up well, and the world-building is interesting, there just wasn't enough action for me. Looking forward to the continuation of the series as I believe the action will pick up soon.

Review to come. But this book is the epitome of why I have come to really dislike the YA genre. Main female (Alex) is beyond frustrating. She is cocky beyond reason, flippant, rude to people in positions of authority. I had no positive thoughts about her. Longer review to come.
