I really enjoyed this first novel of the series. I felt reading the prequel to the series was very helpful as I felt as if I was coming in the middle as I started this book.
The events of this book occur immediately after the Alpha & Omega prequel. Anna Latham & Charles Cornick's sweet romance continues as Anna moves from the known cruelties of Chicago to the unknown cruelties of Montanta. I'm not really sure why I have waited so long to read this book with all these great opinions about it. The reason probably is that I have read Moon Called and I wasn't impressed. So I didn't expect to like Cry Wolf a lot and I'm glad I was wrong.
What I definitely didn't like about Moon Called was the love triangle. Fortunately, in Cry Wolf there is no such thing. Instead there is a wonderful and fascinating relationship between Anna and Charles. Even though I usually dislike the idea of star-cr ...more

Upon re-reading 7 years later, I had forgotten much of the plot of this book. It was a good solid story, with lots of rich character development.
I remember being crazy confused with the beginning the last time I read this, and it does sort of pick up in the middle of a huge cluster of problems, but I think Briggs handles this well. I'm not sure what my problem was last time, unless I just couldn't keep character names straight?
I have 3 more in this series waiting for me, and I'm a huge Mercy Tho ...more

While I love Mercy Thompson with all my heart, this was not quite as good for me. A good story but a little too much focus on the pack and pack politics and mating to make my favourites list. I would have prefered a focus on Asil and his story, but I do like Anna and I can tolerate Charles. :D I will continue and hope that I will grow to love the series as much as Mercy.
