I have came back to this series after reading Alpha and Omega books and liking them so much more than Mercy series. I've read the second book about Mercy and it was good enough to make me read this one.
Unfortunately, I wasn't as pleased with this story as with the previous one. First, Mercy does some stupid and risky things. Like, going in a possible dangerous place without telling anybody and so on. I thought she is smarter than that.

It’s been far too long since I’ve been in Mercy Thompson’s world! The third installment of this series brings the love triangle between Adam, Samuel, and Mercy to a head and Mercy must choose between the two alphas.
Mercy’s former boss and iron-kissed fae, Zee, asks her to snoop around the Umatilla Fae Reservation to see if her keen sense of smell can reveal the identity of the one responsible for a recent rash of fae killings. When Zee is found crouched over one of the victims, he is arrested. M ...more

I enjoyed this book. I have issues with it, but overall I enjoyed it. I liked the focus on the fae, I liked Zee, Jesse and the folk musician physician. The foe wasn't as other-worldy as the last book, which in a way made them even scarier. All contributed to a fun tale.
I still felt uncomfortable with the gender roles given to the characters, especially the woman=victim man=dominant-savior. Yes, it's wrapped up in being-a-werewolf behavior, but we all know there are types of fiction that are real ...more

Actually 4.75, I'm loving this series. While each book can be read as stand alone, they should be read in order as they build from entry to entry. Each of the books has been full of mystery, romance, fantasy, the entire gamut of emotions and characters with real voices. I don't have enough superlatives for this series and especially this book.
