The more I read this book, the more I realize how uneven the story was. Bowen made mistake after mistake and poor Mariketa just kept forgiving him and giving him chances! That said, I understand why she did it...I think I can forgive Bowen everything because of that accent. God almighty! But that accent is hot. *fans self*

Mariketa the Awaited and Bowen MacRieve

I read this many moons ago and rated it 5 stars at that time. It's the one story that I managed to read during my first reading of this series that I actually remember quite a few details from. However, this time around it didn't give 5-star vibes.

I enjoyed this book, but not quite as much as I did the previous book in the series, which is disappointing because I've been looking forward to reading Bowen's book. I think the main thing that kept this from being a solid 4 star read for me was the constant "two steps forward, three steps back" issue that seemed to encompass Bowen and Mari's relationship.
