Ainsley's brother, Elliot McBride, freshly returned from several years abroad in India is somewhat worse for wear when attends the wedding of former love Juliana St. John (love that name). Juliana has just been jilted at the altar when she runs into Elliot in the chapel. When Juliana proposes that Elliott take the place of her missing groom and he readily agrees.

As the newly wed couple make their way to Aberdeen to set up house along with their Indian serv (4.5 Stars Really so very close to 4.75)

As the newly wed couple make their way to Aberdeen to set up house along with their Indian servant family both Juliana and Elliot are happy but apprehensive about the marriage. Though love exists on both sides it is a love spun in childhood separated by no contact during teen and adulthood, they must now work through to the adults they have become. Upon arrival, Juliana is shocked not only at the state of the property but also that her new husband suffers from a mental and emotional darkness borne from several years of captivity and harsh treatment. Juliana is certain she can love Elliott back to mental health and will protect him with any weapon at her disposal against all comers. Elliott on the other hand is just as fierce in his love for Juliana but has not yet mentally found his way from those harsh years. Unknown to anyone else, Elliott's love and thoughts of Juliana helped him retain a bit of sanity and pull him from the darkest memories and helps him fight the ghosts that have followed him home. Elliott & Juliana are great leads with chemistry to spare, the romance of their story is subtly sweet and all encompassing.

Well woven threads of a layered mystery concerning the rumored death of a rival are laced in this sweet romance as Elliott struggles through his past and Juliana finds a place where she is not only welcome but wanted in Elliot's heart. The secondary characters here were little more than bit players and lacked the depth of characters introduced in the previous series installments but were entertaining nonetheless. Brief appearances and glimpses of MacKenzie clan favorites help to round the read. This fast paced and engrossing read made it very easy to ignore everything that is not between its covers.

Julianna is jilted on her wedding day. Usually this would be a bad thing, and in this time it is scandalous, but what if getting jilted is the best thing to ever happen to you.

Elliot has been through a lot to get to where he is today and some including himself think that these things have left him a bit mad. In reality he seems to suffer from what we call PTSD.

These two have had feelings for one another for years, but hadn't acted on it until now.

A reread for me in 2017. JA can always hit my feelz buttons.
This time sweeping me away to colorful India, the caves of Afghanistan, and back to the windswept hills and valleys of Scotland's coastal highlands.
Elliot, OMG, the epitome of the broken, tortured hero struggling to heal his soul. Juliana is almost too perfect...I really liked her, but would have liked better with a few warts LOL. Still, this one gave me a bit more than misty eyes, but not quite ugly tears. A great rainy day read and in ...more

Really enjoyed this one. I was very disappointed with the last book in the series but this one was a good come back. The Seduction of Elliot McBride pales in comparison to "The Madness of Ian MacKenzie" but most books do.

This is a beautiful story of two people who have always loved each other learning to accept the other person as they are today and not allowing torture, PTSD, darkness, madness, emotional damage, assassins or anything stand in their way. ...more
