This was an intense start to this series. Rose has lives in The Edge with her younger brothers which she cares for but then Declin comes into to town and a lot changes but Rose is a strong female and is willing to do whatever it takes to care for George and Jack. The boys are great and I enjoyed reading about their abilities. I also like the banter between Rose and Declin.
I LOVED this book. I'll admit, I totally judged it by it's cover and hemmed and hawed about reading it. The MC, Rose, is a strong, independent woman, but not an annoying one that does what she wants when she wants just cause someone said she shouldn't do it. Life taught her a harsh lesson but it didn't turn her bitter. Her family, what's left of it, means everything to her and she does her best for them. Rose Drayton lives in the Edge, an area separating the Broken (a land with no magic) and the Weird (a land completely magical).
