This was a little slow to get started, or rather slow to get to the point where I was enjoying it, maybe a couple of chapters. But once it got there, I was hooked and stayed that way until the very end. The characters are real to me and each is their own person, not the same old same old.

My favorite part about these books is that the tall dark and dangerous man who would always get the girl in another book, scares the hell out of Kate. She freaks when she finds out she may have given him to thi

I don't think that there is anything that could be improved with this book. It was absolutely brilliant. Because I had got through the world building in the first book, I found that this one, although still requiring concentration, was a lot easier to get into. The writing, the story, the characters - it was all just amazing. I love Kate more and more. She's just the right combination of strong, independent, sassy and funny. And I love how the tension between her and Curran is building slowly. T ...more

I really liked Magic Burns. It was much more detailed and tackled more difficult human problems - greed, honor, love, good vs evil - than Magic Bites. Extremely well written and fast moving. This one grabs you from page 1 and really holds on tight until the end. The "romance" between Curran and Kate is very tension filled but I really do think something will come of it. I like the idea of them together. He's the baddest of the bad asses and she's the baddest of the "humans". Definitely a great m ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series but the second one was so much better! I love the way the world, the characters, the relationships, all slowly develop as you read these stories instead of it all being crammed in the first book. It's like letting a candy slowly melt in your mouth instead of devouring it and having only the brief aftertaste to remind you of how good it once was. The sweetest part is the build up between Kate and Curran. Their relationship is developing at a snai ...more

Ughhhh I want to like this series so much but I am getting so frustrated with not getting any headway with Kate and Curran's relationship. I know it is a Urban Fantasy and does not have to have a romantic relationship in it but all the teasing and not producing is getting old!! Just give me one little small something PLEASE!! I am going to start on the 3rd just to see if their is any development of their relationship if not I am done!! ...more

I liked this second book in the series. I enjoyed it more than the first. The main character, Kate, is still enjoyable throughout the book. She does well in parts of the book and then gets beaten badly in others, but keeps moving forward.
