Reread 03/17/23:- I've been pushing back reading The Candy House for a while now, because I couldn't recall the characters in Goon Squad. Also, I wrote a terrible first review. But I own the book, so I finally decided to re-read the book to refresh my mind. It did come back to me. And it did hold up - I was afraid the powerpoint especially might not, but gimmick notwithstanding, it's a little girl trying to be a bridge between her autistic brother and her not understanding father. I really loved ...more

A Visit From the Goon Squad is a set of loosely tied together stories that connect interrelated characters centered around the music business. Not my thing, but well written. I had to force myself to finish it. The chapter in power-point was interesting, but other than the style of writing I am not sure why it won so many awards, but that is just my opinion.

I loved the first 2/3 of the book but I did not like the ending, very unsatisfying.

I don't usually write reviews, but this book was awful. I heard about it and saw it everywhere so i thought it must be good......WRONG ! Super jumpy, sad, depressing and super boring as an audio book. Occasionally it would get interesting and just as soon it would change times, or characters. Sticking with a main character and in their view for more then a chapter also would have been nice. I only gave it two stars because by some miracle i was able to actually listen to the whole book......but ...more
