Ich lege sehr sehr selten ein Buch beiseite, aber das hier ging echt nimmer. Da verlieben sich ein junger Mann der zu Hypochondrie und übertriebener Romantik neigt in ein bodenständiges Mädchen. Das anfangs seine Liebesschwüre erwidert und dann aber feststellt, bah so doll isser auch nicht. Keine Ahnung wie es ausgeht, ich hatte nur Geduld bis zur Hälfte des Buches. Man erfährt die Lebensgeschichten aller Protagonisten, nur die große Liebe von der dieses Buch handelt trittt so in den Hintergrund ...more

A very strange book and I didn't like the male characters at all. I honestly thought this would be much better and now I feel a little disappointed. I liked some parts and the way that this wasn't a typical love story. But maybe I'm just not the right person for this book. ...more

I didn't like Florentino for the way he used women. I would describe him as being a bit creepy the way he would lurk and spy on Fermina. I also wondered whether this was truly love or obsession brought on because Fermina 'dropped' him and damaged his ego.

Overall the book was a slog yet I found myself not only enjoying the writing and storytelling, but also the story itself. I often find myself thinking about it, so for me that says it was a good story that I enjoyed but didn't find it amazing. ...more
