This is my 4th Gaiman novel. And I can officially put down that Mr. Gaiman is just not for me. I enjoyed this movie so I know the story itself is enjoyable. But I am not a fan of the author's writing style. It does not do a good job keeping and holding my attention.

A sweet fairy tale, with just enough darkness that it isn't saccharine. A bit of romance, a bit of sarcasm, a bit of royal intrigue, and a changeling child who loses his heart to a fallen star. What could be more delightful?
Definitely in the same ballpark with The Princess Brideand The Last Unicorn. ...more

An excellent listening experience. Neil Gaiman not only wrote a fantastic story, but does a wonderful job narrating it as well!

3.5 stars. This is a sweet movie. It's a good story but geared for YA and it isn't middle school material, in my opinion, which it could've and should've been and I would've given it at least 4 stars.

Young Tristran Thorn will do anything to win the cold heart of beautiful Victoria—even fetch her the star they watch fall from the night sky. But to do so, he must enter the unexplored lands on the other side of the ancient wall that gives their tiny village its name. But beyond that old stone wall, Tristran learns, lies Faerie—where nothing, not even a fallen star, is what he imagined.

I got very frustrated with the beginning of the story, as it seemed to spend too much time on Tristran's origin. It got much better after that and then things came together even more in the end.
