It's close to Christmas and eleven year old Flavia is still working in her chemistry lab, whipping up her own preparation of birdlime that she intends to spread all over the chimney. Thanks to LibraryCyn for her good review on this book as it led me to read the series.

Flavia de Luce is very entertaining as the central character and I really applaud the author's authenticity in remembering that Flavia is an 11 yr old girl. Precocious or not, she's still subject to the intense ups, downs and imagination of a child.

This one made me laugh out loud the most.

This was my first Flavia de Luce novel and I found it entertaining-a quick light read about a precocious pre-teen in post-war England with some disturbing hobbies including fireworks production and forensics.
