I'm biased. I love Flavia to bits, and I can't sincerely criticize this book. I think this book does exactly what I expected it to do - entertain me. I actually don't care much for the premise, Bradley writes a brilliant heroine. The minor characters aren't bad either. Flavia de Luce, precocious eleven year old chemistry whiz and amateur sleuth, has gotten involved in yet another crime. Flavia decides to get her fortune told at the village fair and ends up burning down the tent of the gypsy fortune teller. When Flavia goes back to check on her she finds ...more

This one made me laugh out loud the most.

This reads like a series written for an adult audience but is clean of language and any overt or detailed sex themes so not inappropriate for younger readers as well.

In my opinion, the first four books can be

3.5 stars. I still enjoyed this mystery, but not quite as much as the first two in the series.
