This is a most unusual but delightfully reading mystery. This was an enjoyable read. The mystery was complex enough to keep me guessing, and interesting enough to keep me reading to find out more.
My main issue with this novel was Flavia. She's more than a bit insufferable. She's an eleven-year-old chemist who clearly thinks very highly of her own intelligence. But as a narrator, she comes off as smug and annoying, not to mention unbelievable. I warmed to her a bit as the story progressed and she became a little more "normal," but as a character, she ...more

A fun, quick story with a precocious 11-year-old narrator. The mystery was there, but the heart of the story is adventure. I will be reading the others in the series!
I just could not get into this book. At first glance I thought that I would enjoy it but after reading a third of the book and just not finding a catch to hold my attention I decided to just give up.
