Shelves: family-drama, coming-of-age, set-in-ethiopia, medical
Sometimes I felt like putting this down especially at the beginning, sometimes this was boring, sometimes this was too wordy, sometimes this was filled with too much medical drama and jargon but there were also many passages that were engrossing and interesting. Overall, hard to assign a number to this storyline and it could have varied from a 1 to a 5 depending on the point in the story.

Apparently it took me eight years tot finish this book.... I started reading in 2012, but I lost interested and put it away. Two weeks ago, I started again, from page one. This time it did resonate with me much better. Maybe it is better to read a family book when you’re a bit older... I loved everything about this book: the characters, the pace, the medical details, the historical references.

So good!

This was engrossing from beginning to end. The story was compelling and the characters were well drawn especially Shiva. It was very interesting hearing about Ethiopia and I’m sad it’s over. Would recommend for anybody
