Here they come.
Four children have been murdered in Cambridge in 1171. The population is blaming it on the Jewish community. King Henry I requests help from his cousin the King of Sicily. The help arrives from Salerno and is not quite what Henry was expecting. Adelia is more forensic pathologist/coroner than physician but she is capable at both. This book was a very enjoyable read indeed!
It was meticulously researched...and though at times I was lost with the lingo that was lifted pretty much straight from the 12th century, it was still a delight to read.
The main character is relatable as well. Just the right balance of fire, but not so much as to be unrealistic with the times.
Kudos to the author for undertaking what was so obviously a very thorough and extensive job. If you are a fan of historical novels or of history itself, I would ...more
