So, one of the absolute classics of American literature, that is honestly most famous for it's Gregory Peck film version here in Europe and then really only if you're over 40 :)
But with the anniversary and the controversy of the alleged racist language, I was intrigued. And I'm happy I read this book.

I started this book on 03/22/2009. I finished this book on 04/08/2009.
This book was just okay for me. It got really interesting when the trail of Tom Robinson was going on and toward the end it got interesting again. But other then that it was about following around a little girl and her brother. It is a very racial book so I understand how it was a big deal back when it came out. Overall it wasn't really bad but it wasn't my favorite. I'd probably give it a 2 and a half star if I could. ...more

This book exemplifies why I love to read. I first read is as an assignment from my 8th grade English teacher. Years later I reread it with a book group and again when it was chosen for a city-wide read. Every time I read it I find more in this story. And I love it more every time. It's a really good story and a many-layered story. It's worth reading and re-reading.
