Kiss of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #1) in Crazy Challenge Connection

I read some of the reviews prior to reading Kiss of Midnight and I was worried that I might not care for it based on the reviews. But, I read it anyway because the cover drew me in. While I do see similarities between it and Black Dagger Brotherhood, I don't think it is the same story line or a ripoff of that series. (I will go back and reread #1 BDB to see if I've just forgotten stuff.) I've read a lot of books and I've read a lot with similar stories; that doesn't make me dislike the books tho I read some of the reviews prior to reading Kiss of Midnight and I was worried that I might not care for it based on the reviews. I liked the characters, they were unique in their personalities and nationalities and they were fiercely loyal to each other....well, most of them. The idea of a unique human with special DNA construction that made them a Breedmate for the vampires (they were the only females the males could have children with and they bonded/mated for life).

Gabby and Lucan are our MC's, who are totally opposite in their ways but drawn to each other nonetheless. Of course, being the warrior that he is, Lucan refused to entertain the idea of bonding with a female as he sees his duty to the Order/Warriors. Little does he know that Gabby may be the one thing that has been missing in his life for 900+ years. **Spoiler Alert** (view spoiler)

The author did a great job in my opinion with her character/world building and building the story. I will continue with the series.

Note - I listened to the audio version / and read along in the kindle version. This was a great narrator; she had accents, and different 'voices' for all of the characters. She made the story come to life for me. Look forward to other books narrated by her. ...more

Okay story of a girl who sees vampires, even when other humans are brainwashed away from them. The only thing I did not love was the Breed origin story of aliens and sustenance.
