Oh, wow! This is one of the best books by Mr. Sparks for sure. Not that I'm a fan. He's books are usually hit or miss for me but this one really hit me. I could not put it down.
I have seen the movie and was looking forward to a nice cozy read but the book was so much more intense and creepy that my heart was literally breaking for Katie, Alex and his family. In this case, I must say, the book was better than the movie, although I loved them both.

Soo, I was in the mood for something light and easy after slogging through Rushdie, and I figured this would be a safe bet. I'll be the first to admit it - this is one of the rare instances I liked the movie better. While the book was good, I was a lot more invested in the film. The characters were likeable, and I liked Kevin's POV, but mostly I was just wondering what Jo was around for. What was the point of her? Did nobody ever notice that Katie was talking to herself? Normally not a fan. A tad mushy for my taste. But I'm trying to conjure up my inner optimist + I heard this was was a little darker than his usual =)

I have read all of Nicholas Sparks books and I would be the first to say that some of them leave a bit to desire. But I really got into Safe Haven. The story is a new spin for Sparks- it is a bit darker with the romance taking a slower and quieter undertone.
I have been reading completely different generes of books for the last year and I found Safe Haven a nice break. I was sad when it ended and can't wait for his next to come out. ...more

I didn't catch on to the ending very far in advance. It is one of my favorite books by this author.
